Conventional and Cosmetic Tattoo Association

Position Statement

It is the position of the Conventional and Cosmetic Tattoo Association that any method of the use of needles by mechanical means or by hand that places an indelible mark into the human skin with pigments, inks or color is a tattoo. The organizational goal is to promote for both Conventional and Cosmetic Tattoo Artist information for the state and national assistance for safe tattooing.

The organization is completely not for profit and promotes both disciplines of tattooing under one roof for free. It is our goal for all artists that tattoo the human skin work together to improve our industry. We do not believe any board of medicine, cosmetology or any other entity other than the tattoo industry should regulate in any fashion our art.

The Conventional and Cosmetic Tattoo Association recognizes two words to describe both disciplines, and they are Conventional and Cosmetic Tattooing. Fancy names such as micropigmentation, derma implantation or any other concocted word to mask what is correctly known as cosmetic tattooing is misleading information for what is correctly called a tattoo.

The professional organization promotes local and state boards of health and OSHA assistance for proper legislation to conduct safe tattooing. It is the Conventional and Cosmetic Tattoo Associations position that no tattoo is necessary and that every tattoo is elective. The beautification of the human body in any form is a choice of the person wishing to be tattooed and each person and artist should fully consider all risks before a tattoo is preformed.

The Conventional and Cosmetic Tattoo Association will fight with it's members any legislation which is considered to be impeding our right to tattoo safely and conduct our business under our constitutional rights. The professional organization will generously provide meaningful assistance to all states requesting information to assist with all types tattooing.

It is our belief that the training of the cosmetic tattoo artist is far lacking the necessary competence level needed to safely conduct cosmetic tattooing and this is a national problem.

The Conventional and Cosmetic Tattoo Association will test any artist that wishes to be certified by the professional organization for free. Our testing system will have several levels of certification including master cosmetic tattoo artists. The certification will meet much higher standards than any organization in the nation.

Conventional Artist can take advantage of the free classes offered in areas of sterilization and barrier control, safe piercing and body art.

The Conventional and Cosmetic Tattoo Association will not support an artist or organizations that conducts themselves in a manner which is unbecoming of a Conventional or Cosmetic Tattoo Artist. This includes unsafe practices, illegal studios and illegal Permanent Cosmetic Schools.

The organization goal is for the betterment of the industry as a whole and that all Artist conduct safe tattooing.
