This gentleman was referred to me last year and as everyone can see this is very tragic for him as well as the industry. Unfortunately, at this time we cannot go into full details because legal action is pending. It is unfortunate that there are people tattooing the human body and would even consider such an attempt to simulate hair. This woman was in an auto accident and her face went through the windshield. Her upper lip was spilt in half up and around the left side or her nose. This photo to the right is as good as plastic surgery could repair her face. If you notice there is no cupid bow on the upper lip.
She decided that permanent cosmetic tattooing might be the suitable answer to give her a look she once had before the accident. She traveled to Canada and selected a artist that she thought understood the risks of tattooing scars. After poor color selection and penetrating the scars the results below show the lip line turned black.

After careful consultation the first step was to remove as much pigment particle from the epidermis layer without doing further damage to the tissue. Using special techniques gradually developed over the past thirty years I was able to accomplish the first step to a long recovery to beautiful lips. It must be noted that there is really no method that truly removes pigment from the dermis without scaring the individual. The scab is what actually removes the particles. Once lip turns black as in this case that pigment remains dominate in the body forever. In other words, orange will not cover black and in some cases cause more problems. Here I completed a very controlled removal to create the scab. The picture of the customer on the right is the first tattoo session post three months removal.
This is the final session, upper just tattooed and the lower healed and completed. Stay tuned for the very final result of this difficult corrective procedure. John Hashey
